Audio Level Metering On Camtasia 3 For Mac
It may be that you need to reboot and like Timbre4 stated try unplugging the mic before doing so and see if that helps. What type of mic are you using? Built-in, USB or a Mic Line In? The more information you can provide on that could also help.

I have ran into this issue with my USB Audio Soundcard and using my USB Headset before but after unplugging it then doing a reboot and starting the Camtasia Studio Recorder again and plugging the USB Mic back in it solved the problem. Let us know and sorry for your issue. Thanks for posting and have a great day/night. To Timbre4, I was using a line input (but you really don't have to if you set it to record system sound-pretty slick); I did try unplugging it-didn't change it. Turnrd audio off/back on-no change. Shut down camtasia and back up-no change.

To Fred, I was using line in from the headphone to the microphone, but again, with camtasia 8, that's not necessary with 'record system audio'. I unplugged the line in, shut down and restarted camtasia, no change. I can record through my mic-plugged in to the regular mic jack-it works, but no VU. I haven't rebooted my whole machine, I don't think-can't remember, since I first posted this question. I did recently upgrade to Win 10, but I think this happened before the upgrade, but I can't be for sure. Bottom line is-the camtasia still records system audio or an external mic, just can't see the VU meter, but the input level slider functions. I just think I damaged it somehow.
Also, when I'm recording the screen, it loks like it's not recording audio because the whole audio icon goes away, but upon playback, the audio is good-weird. Oh, and I'm using 8.6.0. Thanks for all your help. I'm wondering if it might be time to try a soft reset. I believe in the past, TechSmith support has advised me to close Camtasia, then open my Registry Editor ( Start Run Regedit ) and navigate to the following location: HKEYCURRENTUSER Software TechSmith Camtasia Studio 8.0 Delete that section where it says 8.0 Close the Registry Editor and restart Camtasia. If you are hinky about deleting things from the registry, you may also right-click this area and export it so you could easily import it back in if you wanted. Ctx touch screen drivers for mac free.
And if that fails, perhaps try performing an uninstall/reinstall.
